Where does the World Energy come from?

Solar power converts sunlight to electricity. We also release energy when we burn fuels such as oil, gas and coal. Wind and water are examples of renewable resources, as they never run out.

1. Coal make up 24 per cent of the World's energy.
2. Gas supplies 21 per cent of the World's energy.
3. Oil is used more than any fuel, supplying 35 per cent of the World's energy.

6. Tide Movement and the waves in oceans can be used to make electricity.
7. Nuclear Energy involves splitting atoms, which cause a nuclear explosion that generates huge amount of power.
8. Hydroelectric Power is the energy generated by rushing water harnessed by special dams.
9. Geothermal means "hot rock", and its energy can be tapped where heat from deep inside the Earth rises to the surface.
10. Biomass is the use of natural materials and waste to make energy.
